About
The journey to someday becoming well regarded in the environmental arena initially began in the unlikeliness of places.  After attending California State University Long Beach, I worked in the private sector as a civil engineer for five years.  When the economic downturn hit the US in 2008, I was one of the "lucky" ones that was laid off.  After all, my area of expertise was in land development and because the recession was the result of the housing bubble popping, virtually all construction projects ceased.  It was there that I found myself standing in the crossroads.

Because the bulk of my career prior consisted of grading, drainage, and utility design, I decided to use what I had past learned to build a new career in my passion of agronomy. Knowing that education and experience would be imperative to my success, I immersed myself completely, humbled myself with the mindset of new beginnings, rolled up my sleeves and began the adventure.

In two years time, I received a bachelor's of science in Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. In addition to my curriculum, I took extra classes and obtained a certificate in Agribusiness Management.

My wife and I recently had a baby girl and we are thoroughly enjoying this new addition to our little family. Being a father has really made me see the world in a different perspective and I hope that what I do in this profession will someday make her proud of her father's passion as a steward for the environment.
